Institute Facilities

The Nile Research Institute hosts a group of specialized laboratories that constitute a fundamental pillar in supporting scientific research programs related to the Nile River and Lake Nasser.

  • In the field of water quality, the Institute operates an advanced laboratory equipped with state-of-the-art field and laboratory instruments. This laboratory monitors an extensive and accredited network of sampling locations along the Nile River and its branches, ensuring continuous assessment of the river’s physical, chemical, and environmental characteristics.
  • In the field of sediment studies, the Institute has established a specialized sediment laboratory dedicated to the analysis of bed sediment samples and suspended particulate matter in water. This laboratory focuses on investigating the physical and chemical properties of sediments, as well as monitoring sediment transport rates and movement dynamics. These studies are essential for understanding river dynamics and morphology. They are also critically important for evaluating environmental risks associated with pollutant accumulation in sediments and their potential impacts on aquatic ecosystem health.

Partnerships

The institute collaborates with important local and international bodies in the field of irrigation and drainage. Below is a list of some of these bodies with which it has collaborated.
