CLEQM Director
Professor Mohsen Yousry, at present is the director of the Central Laboratory for Environmental Quality Monitoring (CLEQM) since 2019. From 2014 until 2019, he occupied the position of secretary general in the Nile Research Institute (NRI). He received a Diploma in irrigation from Bari Institute – Italy in 1998 and his M.Sc. in Chemistry from Zagzig University in 2001 and a Ph.D. in 2006 in Chemistry from Zagzig University. His career progression started since 1995 as chemist in quality and pollution monitoring department – NRI. He gained a wide experience for more than 30 years in the field of water quality and pollution control.
He served on numerous scientific and academic committees and actively participated in national and international conferences He gave lectures in the international post-graduate training courses in environment hydrology for arid and semi-arid regions and has published a number of papers on the field of water and sediment quality in reputable national and international journals. He participated in several local, regional and international projects related to water quality

CLEQM Overview
The Central Laboratory for Environmental Quality Monitoring (CLEQM) was established by Presidential Decree No. 316 of 1994 as part of cooperation between the Canadian government and the Egyptian government, represented by the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation (MWRI), Using the latest analytical equipment and quality control, complied with ISO/IEC 17025:2017.
Area of Expertise
- Conducting all types of water, soil, and plant analyses, as assigned by the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation and its various sectors, and the National Water Research Center and its research institutes.
- Contributing to environmental monitoring in the water sector for the public and private sectors.
- Contributing to the preparation of environmental assessment studies.
- Providing technical advice for the establishment of laboratories and training their staff.
- Preparing specialized training courses for personnel working in the field of analysis and training university students on the latest techniques.
- Providing reliable data and technical recommendations to decision-makers at the Ministry of Water Resources and Irrigation.
- Supporting government efforts in developing plans and policies related to water quality
